Cheryl Draper Memorial Scholarship – Application Deadline

VCCFA – Cheryl Draper Memorial Scholarship Criteria 

Purpose

VCCFA annually awards one or more Cheryl Draper Memorial Scholarships to a child or spouse of a VCCFA member in good standing as defined in the VCCFA Constitution.

・These scholarships may be used for any public post secondary institution in Canada and for any certificate, diploma or degree program.
・The scholarships are to be used for post secondary tuition and other related expenses up to a maximum of $1,000.00.
・The scholarship monies will be released up to one calendar year following an award and upon receipt of proof of registration in a recognized institution. 

Selection Process 

The VCCFA Executive appoints a sub-committee to review applications and make recommendations for its consideration by May 1st of each year. The committee consists of a chair, appointed by the Executive, and the parent(s)/spouse(s) of the previous year’s winner(s). 

The VCCFA Executive will also appoint a Board liaison whose responsibility it will be to vet all applications so that there is no identifying information on the transcripts, etc. of the applicants. 

Applications can be obtained from the VCCFA Union Office and must be completed as directed by March 31st each year and the following must be attached: 

・Transcripts of academic records and/or documented experience in field of study must be attached to application.
・A letter based upon the following criteria explaining why the applicant wants the scholarship 

Selection Criteria 

・Volunteer activities including contribution to community and/or school
・Academic Record
・A description of academic/career aspirations OR a statement about why the applicant has chosen a particular course of study for the following year.

Scholarship recipients may only receive one full scholarship within any four year cycle. 

Please Note: 

a. Your application must be received in the VCCFA office by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023. Late applications will not be considered.
b. Letters of Reference, Recommendation or Support are not necessary and will not be read.
